2009 Moments of Being

At the beginning stands the white, empty canvas. Making it by hand and stretching it oneself already demands considerable physical effort. The pigments, too, I grind into colours myself. But it is precisely in this strenuous, physical work that a deep space of silence lies: repetitive labour gives time and room for deeper trains of thought.
