In his cycle RACES | DOGMAS | RELIGIONS, made in 2010, the Perchtoldsdorf painter C.F.J. König sets out the seemingly insurmountable and contradictory problems of this theme. The large heads of people of different races, presented on twenty canvases of 1 × 1 m — together with the attempt to give the five great world religions a face — succeed without exception. Looked at more closely, the juxtaposition of races and religions grows ever clearer and more telling. One painting, of a child, steps out of that role: still uninfluenced, resting in itself, it looks out into the world openly and without prejudice.
Reproduction in museum quality — UV direct print on mirror aluminium Dibond, format 40 × 40 cm. Limited total edition: 333 pieces.
Combine, connect, collect — that is the thought behind this unusual edition of C.F.J. König's cycle, limited to a total of 333 pieces. Together with the artist, Edition Werbach selected nine works representing a cross-section of the cycle and brought these pictures to a shine as direct prints on mirrored metal plates.
