Opening. Series of works: HEIMAT/habitat, Thursday 7 November 2013, 7 p.m., Design Tower Vienna — Stilwerk, Praterstraße 1, 1020 Vienna.
On Thursday 7 November 2013, Edition Werbach — Pictures with Format — invites you to the opening of the new series of works “Heimat/habitat” by C.F.J. König, and with it to the prelude to three further events on 14, 21 and — as a closing event — 28 November 2013 on the theme of home.
In these new works the artist C.F.J. König shows his entirely personal approach to interpreting the concept of “Heimat”. Pictures with titles such as “Eing'schenkt is”, “Brauchtum”, “Weinlese” or “Weitblick” show snapshots from his home town of Perchtoldsdorf, the things that mark the place — at least in general, social perception and its conceptual ordering. As a wine village, Perchtoldsdorf comes laden from the outset with certain notions, which nevertheless hold good in any other place in the world. Reduce the contents of the pictures to their basic statements — growing, hunting, harvesting, providing and finally living — and home takes place everywhere.
The pictures are made, as all his works are, in the multi-layer technique typical of C.F.J. König, from acrylates with pigments. Many of the details in his pictures only open up when the angle of view is changed. Every viewer can thus find their own piece of a bond with home in these finely framed pictures, and take it into their own home.
The originals are 80 × 100 cm, painted in acrylates and pigments on canvas, on view at Edition Werbach in the Stilwerk, Vienna 2, ground floor, showroom 4.
