Happy as a Pig

The ironic, vital title is translated formally through the complete absence of hard, cold dividing lines or threatening shadows. The pervading, radiant gold ochre and the bright centre of light carry an intense feeling of warmth, of deep inner peace and absolute shelter. The one animal — the wild boar, earthy and heavy — seeks no conflict with the other — the owl, the light and airy principle. It beds itself entirely organically, symbiotically, into that sheltering space of light. It is the visual equivalent of having arrived completely, of untroubled emotional safety.
