The pale, mask-like face is wedged tight at the centre. The dark, wild structures enclosing the head turn out, on closer looking, to be the mighty, shadowy wings of ravens. The animal and the human merge completely. Painted with orpiment — a glittering, translucent golden-yellow mineral found in hot springs and volcanoes.
