Quetsal warrior
Pigments & acrylic resin on canvas · 150x120cm/1996
When it did come to battle — especially on the eastern frontiers of the empire, at the crossings into the impassable Amazon basin, the Antisuyu — the Inca met an entirely different enemy. Jungle warriors operated here who had mastered a perfect guerrilla tactic. Merging with nature: these warriors used the dense vegetation as a living shield and camouflaged themselves so completely that they remained invisible to the Inca soldiers.
