Conscious or half-conscious fulfilments of unfulfilled wishes, often erotic or ambitious ones, which in real life are blocked by the super-ego. In the daydream the ego is allowed to relax. It gives up part of its control and lets the impulses of the id — the glowing red-orange — rise gently to the surface, without the strict censor stepping in.
