feathered serpent bird
Pigments & acrylic resin on canvas
This creature embodies the greatest paradox of the spiritual world. The snake stands for matter, for the earthly, for human nature and for gravity. The feathers of the bird stand for spirit, for the divine, for wind, freedom and intellect. The serpent bird is therefore “enlightened matter” — a snake that has learnt to fly. It symbolises the human being, born of the earth, reaching for the stars.
